Monday's summer finale of the ABC Family drama The Fosters
ends with a lesbian wedding.
In the show, Sherri Saum (Rescue Me) and Teri Polo (Meet
the Parents) play domestic partners living in San Diego,
California. The couple is coping with raising three children when a
wayward teenage girl – a foster child – is added to the family.
A Supreme Court ruling handed down in June paved the way for
California to become the 13th state to legalize gay
nuptials.
The couple can be seen exchanging vows in a trailer released by
ABC Family.
“You are a piece of work,” Lena (played by Saum) tells Stef
(Polo), “but you're my piece of work.” (The video is embedded on

our video library for more videos.)
The Fosters will return with new episodes in January.
