Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has
credited criticism he received for making an It Gets Better video for
changing his life for the better.
The 35-year-old Hilton, real name Mario
Armando Lavandeira, Jr., made the claim in a new It Gets Better video
released Wednesday.
“It's been about 3 years now since I
made an It Gets Better video. I was one of the first public people
to make one. And the reaction that I got to that video when I posted
it in the fall of 2010 helped spark a huge change in my life,”
Hilton explained.
“I made that video thinking I was
doing something positive. I actually got a very negative reaction
because of the video. A lot of people were saying that I was a
hypocrite and a bully and mean and I shouldn't have made that video.
That was a big wake up call for me.”
Hilton, who outed actor Neil Patrick
Harris and singer Lance Bass, has made good on a promise to stop
being negative on his blog PerezHilton.com.
“My life has gotten better because of
It Gets Better. And I'm actually the happiest I've ever been my
whole life now. I'm a new dad.”

“As a country, we've gotten so much
