Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell
of The Fabulous Beekman Boys married Friday at Beekman Farm in
Sharon Springs, New York.
Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell got engaged in
December of 2011. But Wednesday's historic Supreme Court rulings
made their special day even better.
“We are thrilled that the Supreme
Court has struck down DOMA and dismissed California's Prop 8 appeal,”
the couple told PEOPLE.com
on Thursday. “As we prepare for our own wedding tomorrow, we hear
the basis for the court's ruling in the unanimous congratulatory
wishes of our neighbors in our small, rural, politically conservative
village.”
“Our neighbors prove that cultural
values are indeed shifting, as they inevitably have, toward the basic
intrinsic American values of freedom, inclusion and equality,” they
added.
Lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart was
among those attending Friday's ceremony.
Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell starred for
two seasons on their own reality series, The Fabulous Beekman
Boys, which featured the couple as they worked to create a
self-sustaining organic farm in upstate New York. They also won
season 21 of CBS' The Amazing Race.
