Facebook on Wednesday launched a
“feeling pride” emoticon which displays a rainbow for LGBT Pride
month.
Users can include the emoticon in their
status updates by simply typing “pride” when choosing an
emoticon.
The “feeling pride” emoticon is
part of the social network's #PrideConnectsUs campaign, which
launched earlier this month.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also
reacted to two Supreme Court rulings related to gay marriage.
“I'm proud that our country is moving
in the right direction, and I'm happy for so many of my friends and
their families. #PrideConnectsUS – feeling proud,” he wrote on
his Facebook page.
According to Facebook, roughly 70
percent of users in the United States are connected to a friend who
has “expressly identified themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual on
their timeline.”
