Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga, Darren Criss, Wanda Sykes and Ricky Martin were among the celebrities cheering two Supreme Court cases related to gay marriage.

The high court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and dismissed an appeal to a lower court ruling invalidating Proposition 8, California's 2008 voter-approved constitutional amendment limiting marriage to heterosexual couples.

The wins mean that gay couples can marry in California and such unions will be for the first time recognized by the federal government.

“It's a supremely wonderful day for equality,” Ellen DeGeneres tweeted. “Prop 8 is over, and so is DOMA. Congratulations everyone. And I mean everyone.”

Wanda Sykes messaged: “Thank you to the plaintiffs, the lawyers David Boies and Ted Olson, to Rob Reiner, Chad and all organizations who made this happen & SCOTUS!”

A jubilant Tegan and Sara added, “AND DOWN #DOMA GOES!!! WHAT A HUGE DAY FOR AMERICA!!! CONGRATS EVERYONE!!!”

“PROP8 IS GONE! #DOMA IS GONE!” Ricky Martin messaged.

Darren Criss' message was simple: “#Victory :)”
