Christian conservative group One
Million Moms is protesting lesbian drama The Fosters for trying to
“desensitize America and our children by promoting inappropriate
behavior.”
The Fosters stars Teri Polo
(Meet the Parents) and Sherri Saum (Rescue Me) as a
married lesbian couple who are coping with raising three children
when a wayward teenage girl – a foster child – is added to the
family. The show from executive producer Jennifer Lopez premiered
Monday on cabler ABC Family.
One Million Moms urged supporters in a
blog post to contact the show's advertisers and demand that they pull
their spots from the program for “attacking my faith, morals and
values.”
Advertisers are urged to distance
themselves from “a controversial subject that your company would
probably not desire to be associated with.”
“Urge advertisers to place it on
their 'do not advertise' list in protest of the attempt to
desensitize America and our children by promoting inappropriate
behavior on a family channel,” the
group wrote.
