Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann has
endorsed a prayer effort to mark the anniversary of the September 11
WND Editor Joseph Farah is behind the
call for a day of national prayer and fasting on 9/11.
In his appeal, he asks readers to pray
against terrorism, nuclear war and homosexuality.
“The U.S. continues its slide from
moral malaise to cultural hedonism that makes the late 1960s look
like the 1950s by comparison, as support for 'same-sex marriage'
grows, the horrors of the 'abortion on demand' crusade are revealed
in a Philadelphia courtroom sans media coverage and an epidemic of
sex abuse against children by schoolteachers, clergy and scoutmasters
is not only ignored but results in capitulation by the Boy Scouts of
America to the demands of those who would make the citizenry of Sodom
and Gomorrah blush,” he
wrote, referring to the Boy Scouts' recent proposal to allow
openly gay scouts.
Scouts propose lifting gay ban on scouts, not leaders.)
Bachmann, a 2012 GOP presidential
candidate, backed the idea in a statement.
“I join together with other Americans
who have called for September 11, 2013, to be set aside as a day for
personal prayer, reflection and fasting, for ourselves and for our
nation,” Bachmann wrote.
“As we humble ourselves and pray and
seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways, we can take assurance
from the Holy Scripture that God has promised to hear from heaven,
will forgive our sin, and will heal our land.”
