Bryan Fischer of the Christian conservative American Family Association (AFA) believes the GOP would be finished as a political party if it endorsed gay marriage.

Appearing on The David Pakman Show, Fischer agreed that “there's a cultural shift” on some social issues, including marriage equality.

“There's no question there's a cultural shift,” Fischer said. “But when you're talking about the grassroots of the Republican Party, you're talking about the people that get their friends out to vote, that make the phone calls, that make small donations to keep the Republican Party going – those people haven't budged on their values. And it would be a major mistake for the leadership of the Republican Party to stick their finger in the wind, think they know which way the wind is blowing, and then wind up with nobody following them. That would be an absolute catastrophe. It would be total suicide for the Republican Party [to] abandon these core values. They would be finished as a political force in America.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
