Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and contributor to Fox News, on Thursday argued that legalizing gay marriage would inevitably lead to polygamy.

Appearing on The O'Reilly Factor to discuss two Supreme Court cases related to gay marriage, Ablow and guest host Laura Ingraham agreed on the consequences of marriage equality.

“The government shouldn't be expressing a preference for whether two people of any gender get together and call themselves married. That should be a matter for religious institutions,” Ablow said.

“The government should never have been involved in these personal matters and that's why it's coming back to bite us. Because frankly Laura, it's just completely illogical to me and I think highly prejudicial that a state or the federal government would say two men can marry but not two women and a man. Three people can be in love. If love is the arbiter, then three people can marry.”

“Doctor, hey, that's coming, right?” Ingraham asked.

“I would assume,” he answered.

“I don't know what argument – I think you're right – you can make against that. Why is two so special? Why not four? Why not one?”

“It's coming so we're done. Go to your church, go to your temple, go to your polygamist temple. Wherever you want to go, go do it.

“Polygamy's back, according to Dr. Ablow,” Ingraham added with a chuckle.
