Beyonce tweeted a handwritten note via Instagram which read: “If you like it, you should be able to put a ring on it #wewillunite4marriageequality! – B!”

Martin also tweeted support: “Supreme Court #SCOTUS #Prop8 #UnitedForMarriage #Time4Marriage #loveconquershate #OneMomAndOneDadIsOK #TwoDadsIsOK #TwoMomsIsOK.”

“Changed my profile picture and header in support of marriage equality,” tweeted actress Alyssa Milano.

Model Cindy Crawford said it was “#Time4Marriage” in a tweet to followers.

“History in the making: @AFER's Olson and Boies arrive at @SCOTUS,” messaged actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Later in the day, Ferguson's fiance, Justin Mikita, added: “Now we wait. RT if you support the freedom to marry for all. Today, history had been made – so proud!”

“Today's the day,” Johnny Weir messaged. “Everyone deserves the same rights as their parents, coworkers, friends and enemies. We shall rise up.”
