Singers Beyonce and Ricky Martin and
Olympian Johnny Weir were among the celebrities tweeting support for
gay marriage as the Supreme Court took up the issue in two related
cases.
Beyonce tweeted a handwritten note via
Instagram which read: “If you like it, you should be able to put a
ring on it #wewillunite4marriageequality! – B!”
Martin also tweeted support: “Supreme
Court #SCOTUS #Prop8 #UnitedForMarriage #Time4Marriage
#loveconquershate #OneMomAndOneDadIsOK #TwoDadsIsOK #TwoMomsIsOK.”
“Changed my profile picture and
header in support of marriage equality,” tweeted actress Alyssa
Milano.
Model Cindy Crawford said it was
“#Time4Marriage” in a tweet to followers.
“History in the making: @AFER's Olson
and Boies arrive at @SCOTUS,” messaged actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Later in the day, Ferguson's fiance, Justin Mikita, added: “Now we
wait. RT if you support the freedom to marry for all. Today, history
had been made – so proud!”
“Today's the day,” Johnny Weir
messaged. “Everyone deserves the same rights as their parents,
coworkers, friends and enemies. We shall rise up.”
