A practical Jesse Tyler Ferguson
proposed marriage to his boyfriend by giving him a watch.
Ferguson, who portrays Mitchell
Pritchett on the ABC comedy Modern Family, discussed proposing
marriage to his lawyer fiance Justin Mikita during an appearance on
the ABC daytime talk show The View.
He told the women that the couple got
engaged in July while in Mexico to celebrate co-star Sofia Vergara's
birthday.
“I proposed to Justin in Mexico,”
he said. “We were actually in Mexico for Sofia's 40th
birthday party. She was getting married in Playa del Carmen. We
were having some extra time in Tulum before we went to the wedding.”
When asked about the ring, Ferguson,
37, revealed that he did not give Mikita one.
“I got him a watch instead; a Rolex.
It's very useful and I had it engraved on the back: 'Spend all your
time with me.' You know, the tie in. It's a watch. It's pretty
adorable.”
