A heartbreaking song written and
performed by Sacha Sacket for It Gets Better and dedicated to
the memory of Jamey Rodemeyer was released Friday.
It Gets Better is a music and
theater production inspired by columnist and gay rights activist Dan
Savage's It Gets Better campaign, which urges troubled gay teens to
hang in there because life gets better.
Earlier this month, LeAnn Rimes, Greg
Louganis, Lily Tomlin and Savage were a few of the guests joining the
Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) as it premiered the musical
in Los Angeles.
The production is based on the
real-life stories of six openly gay actors: Jason Currie, Tyler
Houston, Tod Macofsky, Mario Mosley, Sacha Sacket and Drew Tablak.
The single Song for Jamey, which
is dedicated to the memory of Jamey Rodemeyer, a gay teen who
committed suicide soon after making an It Gets Better video, was
released Friday on iTunes,
Amazon
and Bandcamp.
