Anderson Cooper on Monday will discuss
AIDS activism and the documentary How To Survive A Plague on
his nationally syndicated talk show Anderson Live!
Director David
France's Plague, which premiered at Sundance 2012, has been
nominated for Best Documentary at the 85th Academy Awards.
The film is a fearless look at the rise and success of HIV/AIDS
advocacy groups ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power) and TAG
(Treatment Action Group).
Appearing on the
program, AIDS activist Peter Staley, a leading subject in the film,
noted that Plague was more than an AIDS documentary.
“It's not an AIDS
documentary,” Staley said. “It's a documentary about how people
can positively change the world.”
“It's incredibly
inspiring,” Cooper added. “I gotta say, I started watching it
because I felt a sense of obligation to watch it. But it is a great
film. It is a captivating, inspiring [film]. And you finish
watching it and you feel you want to go out and change the world, and
you can change the world.” (The video is embedded on this page.
