Singer Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy Houston, has said she would have been unhappy if rumors that Whitney was gay turned out to be true.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey to pitch her book Remembering Whitney, Cissy discussed Whitney's relationship with best friend Robyn Crawford, whom Whitney met when she was 16.

“Do you believe Whitney and Robyn were in a gay relationship?” Winfrey asked.

“I don't really know,” Cissy Houston answered. “I didn't particularly like her.”

“What didn't you like?” Winfrey asked.

“She just spoke too, you know, disrespectful sometime. Like she had something over every, you know, like that. I didn't like that at all,” Cissy said. “She turned out to be all right, I guess.”

“They were very good friends,” Cissy added.

“Would it have bothered you if your daughter Whitney was gay?” Winfrey asked.

“Absolutely,” she answered.

“It would have bothered you?” Winfrey asked. “You would not have liked that?”

“Not at all,” Cissy answered. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
