British singer-songwriter MIKA on Wednesday released a new single from his third studio album, The Origin Of Love.

Popular Song, which debuted on iTunes and other digital retails through Republic Records, features Ariana Grande, whose successful co-starring role on cabler Nickelodeon's Victorious led to her own spin-off: Sam & Cat. Her own debut album is expected in 2013.

Popular Song offers a fresh twist on Popular from the Broadway hit musical Wicked. (The audio is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

Popular composer Stephen Schwartz was so moved by the new interpretation that he authorized the use of his music for the first time ever.

The 29-year-old MIKA, born Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr., only recently began to discuss his sexuality.

“If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah. Are these songs about my relationship with a man? I say yeah. And it's only through my music that I've found the strength to come to terms with my sexuality beyond the context of just my lyrics. This is my real life,” MIKA said in the September issue of Instinct.
