Fran Drescher has said that she's not
dependent on her gay ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson despite their
close working relationship.
The 55-year-old Drescher has previously
said that her marriage was “happy” and that Jacobson's sexual
orientation did not cause the divorce.
Drescher and Jacobson created and
produced the long-running CBS sitcom The Nanny, which starred
Drescher as Fran Fine, a Jewish working class woman from Queens who
creates chaos when she lands a job looking after the children of an
upper class Broadway producer in New York.
The couple have reunited to produce
cabler TV Land's hit sitcom Happily Divorced, which is loosely
based on Drescher's life following her divorce from Jacobson in 1999
after 21 years of marriage.
Despite their close working
relationship, Drescher told BuzzFeed.com
that the pair are living their own separate lives unlike their
Happily Divorced television characters.
“I'm not dependent on my ex-husband
in any way that Fran is,” Drescher said. “We're very, very
close, and we're like family, and I would certainly call him first if
I needed anything or anyone. Our lives aren't intertwined in the way
that theirs are.”
