Bryan Fischer of the Christian
conservative American Family Association (AFA) believes gay marriage
advocates won 9 states and the District of Columbia by wearing down
opponents.
In an interview with David Pakman,
Fischer, who recently described CNN as the “gay Gestapo,” was
rickrolled, the practice of tricking a person into mentioning lyrics
from Ricky Astley's 80's hit single Never Gonna Give You Up.
“Here's the thing David, when it
comes to these culture wars and the battle over social values, one of
the reasons that the homosexual lobby makes progress is they never
give up,”
Fischer said.
“They're relentless, they're determined, they have resolve.
And eventually in some cases are able to wear down the opposition.”
“So you guys won't give up
eventually?” Pakman asked. “How many states will it take
for you to give this issue up, Bryan?”
“We're never going to give up.
We'll never, ever give
up on this, David.”
“But
if you're also never going to give up,
why have you lost 9 states?”
“Well
because they wear down the opposition. Eventually people just get
tired and they give up
and they give in,” Fischer said.
For
the record, Pakman beat Fischer in mentions with eight “give ups”
to Fischer's 6. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
