Twilight star Robert Pattinson
has suggested a future storyline in which his Edward Cullen character
would be gay.
In an appearance on The Ellen
DeGeneres Show alongside co-star Taylor Lautner, the two men
pitched the sixth and final installment of the Twilight
series, which is based on Stephenie Meyer's vampire romance novels.
DeGeneres noted that the franchise
could continue beyond Meyer's original vision.
“You could kind of make up something
after that,” she said. “It doesn't have to be a book. If it
makes money and people love you, why wouldn't you make another one?”
“Would you make another
one?”
Pattinson listed several possible options, including a
film which combines Twilight with the Avengers.
“I was thinking another way to do it
would be to make it look like Will & Grace, where Edward
turns gay,” Pattinson joked. “But [Edward and Bella] still stay
together. They raise the kid and everything.” (The video is

Pattinson played gay artist Salvador
Dali in the 2008 film Little Ashes.
