Ricky Martin, Jane Lynch, Zachary
Quinto and Wanda Sykes are among the LGBT celebrities starring in ads
supporting President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.
“As a parent, I'm especially thankful
that the president is working to end bullying because no one should
be afraid to walk down the street holding hands with the person they
love,” singer Ricky Martin says in one of the three ads released by
the campaign on Monday.
“Every generation stands on the
shoulders of the generations before – just like I do,” tennis
great Billie Jean King says in another ad. “And I'm very thankful
to all those people that suffered so that I could have a better life.
When I was going through all my suffering I used to always imagine
what I'd like the world to look like and we are certainly much closer
to it than ever – and I know that President Obama is very
responsible for this happening because he stood up for us.”
“Having the President of the United
States declare his belief that gay couples should be allowed to marry
and to use the word marry was incredibly inspiring to watch that all
unfold,” actor Zachary Quinto says before a clip of Obama's May
