Jesse Tyler Ferguson has announced he's
engaged to marry boyfriend Justin Mikita.
The 36-year-old Ferguson has received 3
Emmy Award nominations for playing Mitchell Pritchett on the ABC
Wednesday night comedy hit Modern Family.
On the show, Ferguson plays a gay man
raising a daughter with his partner.
Ferguson and Mikita, a lawyer, slipped
in their engagement announcement in a video for their Tie the Knot
foundation.
“I want to tell you about a
foundation that I'm launching called Tie the Knot,” Ferguson says
while seated on a couch. “It's a very exciting new project that I
created with my lover ...”
Mikita is heard interrupting with, “You
know I hate that word.”
After Ferguson cycles through several
other options – partner, boyfriend, fella – he finally blurts
out, “My fiancee.”
“It's true I popped the big q,”
Ferguson says.
“I said yes,” Mikita says as he
joins Ferguson on the couch.
“A little too eagerly if you ask me,”
Ferguson whispers into the camera. (The video is embedded on this

Proceeds from sales of the couple's bow
ties at Tie the
Knot will benefit organizations seeking to expand marriage rights
for gay and lesbian couples.
