Actor-director Clint Eastwood has
reiterated his support for gay marriage.
The 82-year-old Eastwood appeared
Monday on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to pitch his new movie,
Trouble at the Curve, which opens nationwide on Friday.
Eastwood's appearance at the Republican
National Convention (RNC) raised eyebrows when he conversed with an
invisible President Barack Obama who was supposedly seated in an
empty chair.
“The Democrats who were watching
thought I was going senile, and the Republicans knew I was,” he
joked.
Eastwood explained that he leans more
Libertarian, and knocked the GOP for abandoning such values.
“Libertarian values, that's where
Republicans used to be when they were saving money and everything,”
Eastwood said.
On gay marriage, he said: “Leave
everybody alone. … With the condition of society right now, with
the high unemployment rates and the tremendous debt we're increasing
and the government spending, you think there'd be a lot to think
about … [instead of] worrying what gay marriage is about.” (The
