Ellen and Portia DeGeneres, who
recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, are included on
the 2012 Forbes list of the world's most powerful couples.
The list of 15 powerful couples is
topped by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and current U.S.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“Successful couples make lots of
different arrangements; it's not scientific,” Rosabeth Moss Kanter,
a Harvard Business School professor and author of SuperCorp,
told
the magazine. “With a power couple like the Clintons, it was a
trade off. She went to Arkansas for him to be governor. He moved to
New York with her partly so she could run for Senate.”
Ellen, 54, the host of The Ellen
DeGeneres Show, and Portia, 39, who is expected to reprise her
role as Lindsay Bluth Funke in the upcoming series return and
feature-length film of the early 2000's hit Arrested Development,
married in California during the brief 2008 June-to-November window
when gay nuptials were legal in the state.
Ellen, who publicly announced in 1997
during the fourth season of her sitcom Ellen that she is gay,
wrote in her memoir Seriously … I'm Kidding that the couple
decided they don't want children of their own.
“There is far too much glass in our
house,” she wrote.
