Dax Shepard is holding off on plans to
wed fiance Kristen Bell until gay marriage is legalized in
California.
The 37-year-old Shepard and actress
Bell (House of Lies), 32, have been engaged since 2009.
In an appearance on MSNBC's Morning
Joe to pitch his upcoming film Hit & Run, Shepard
reiterated that the wedding is currently on hold.
When co-host Mika Brzezinski asked
Shepard, “When are you getting married?” Shepard answered: “When
all of our friends can also get married in California. So, whenever
that happens we will. We don't want to have a ceremony that other
people can't have.”
Shepard, who is best known for playing
Crosby Braverman on the NBC sitcom Parenthood, wrote, directed
and stars in Hit & Run, which also features Bell.
In February, Bell told gay glossy
The Advocate: “The reason we're not rushing to get married is
because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's
denied to my best friends.”
