Actor Scott Leo “Taye” Diggs has joined the NOH8 Campaign, the silent protest which raises awareness and funds for gay rights causes, including ending California's 2008 voter-approved gay marriage ban, Proposition 8.

The 41-year-old Diggs is best known for playing Benjamin “Benny” Coffin III in the Broadway production of Rent and Winston in the 1998 film How Stella Got Her Groove Back. He currently plays Dr. Sam Bennett in the ABC medical drama Private Practice.

The NOH8 Campaign is helmed by photographer-activist Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley. The pair photograph celebrities and everyday folks with their mouths duct taped and the campaign's familiar “NOH8” slogan often written on one cheek.

In his photograph, Diggs wears a gray straw fedora hat, vintage round tortoise glasses and a white t-shirt.

Diggs is married to Broadway diva Idina Menzel, who posed for the campaign in March.

Recent celebrities who have joined the NOH8 Campaign include actor James Van Der Beek, actress Aisha Tyler, Glee's Nene Leakes, singer Miley Cyrus, Hot in Cleveland's Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves, singer Courtney Love and Meghan and Cindy McCain.
