A trailer for the UK drama Hit and
Miss featuring Chloe Sevigny as a transgender hit woman was
released on Friday.
The 6-episode series will have its U.S.
premiere on DIRECTV's Audience Network on July 11.
The 37-year-old Sevigny, who found
herself unemployed after HBO canceled Big Love last
year, plays Mia in Paul Abbott's (Shameless, State of Play)
high-concept series.
In the 30-second trailer, Mia is seen
seductively applying lipstick in a mirror as a sensuous female
version of James Brown's 1966 single It's a Man's Man's Man's
World is played: “This is a man's world, it's a man's world;
But it would be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl” (The

According to the show's description,
Mia finds out that she fathered a son eleven years ago and her former
girlfriend is dying from cancer.
“Faced with a difficult decision, Mia
becomes the guardian to a new family forcing her to mix her killer
instincts with her newly developing maternal instincts.”
Hit and Miss is the first
original series commissioned by recently-launched satellite channel
Sky Atlantic in Britain.
Sevigny's breakthrough role was playing
Lana Tisdel, a woman who falls in love with Brandon Teena, a
transgender man who is brutally murdered, in the 1999 biopic Boys
Don't Cry. She earned her first Oscar nomination for her
performance.
Sevigny has previously talked
about her lesbian fan base. And in a recent Entertainment
Weekly interview, she said she was “flattered” by a
recurring series of videos spoofing her fashionable image.
