A supporter of Pastor Charles L. Worley
has told an NBC affiliate that gay people “are worthy of death.”
Worley, who ministers at the Providence
Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, has been criticized
for telling congregants during a
May 13 sermon that gay men and women should be confined behind an
electrified fence and left to die.
When he added, “Somebody said, 'Who
you gonna vote for?' I ain't gonna vote for a baby killer and a
homosexual lover,” some in the crowd could be heard responding with
“Amen.”
Church member Geneva Sims told
Charlotte-based NBC affiliate WCNC-TV that she agrees with Worley's
sermon.
“He had every right to say what he
said about put 'em in a pen,” Sims said. “The Bible says they're
worthy of death.”
Stacey Pritchard added: “Sometimes
you got to be scared straight. He's trying to save those people from
going to hell.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this

A protest being organized on Facebook
