Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden,
son of Vice President Joe Biden, has said his father spoke from his
heart on gay marriage.
Joe Biden is credited with giving
President Barack Obama the nudge he needed to make a public
announcement in support of marriage equality. Appearing on NBC's
Meet the Press, Biden told host David Gregory that he is
“absolutely comfortable” with gay couples marrying, then added
that “The president sets the policy.” Three days later, Obama
announced his support.
Appearing on CNN, Beau Biden told host
Wolf Blitzer that he was proud of both his dad and the president.
“My dad spoke from the heart. I'm
incredibly proud of what he said. I'm even more proud of what the
president said as it relates to making sure that this is a
fundamental civil rights issue. It's a civil rights issue. It's
something that people in my state, in Delaware, and everywhere I go
are incredibly proud of the stance that the president has taken on a
matter of equality.”
“At a moment we're sending people to
defend our nation – whether they be gay or straight – to not
allow them to have the same rights that we all have on the home front
