Thomas Beatie and his wife of 9 years,
Nancy, have separated.
According to PEOPLE.COM,
Beatie discussed the split during a recent taping of the TV show The
Doctors to air Monday, May 7.
Beatie, 38, gave birth to his first
child, Susan Juliette Beatie, on June 29, 2008. Austin Alexander
Beatie was born on June 9 of the following year. And Beatie gave
birth to a third child, Jensen James Beatie, on July 25, 2010.
Beatie, a beauty
queen in his former life, had sex reassignment surgery in 2002, but
opted to keep his reproductive sexual organs. He then legally
changed his birth certificate from Tracy to Thomas and married Nancy,
a divorced mother of two, in 2003. The couple decided he should get
pregnant after learning that Nancy was unable to bear another child
due to a hysterectomy.
On the program,
Beatie also revealed that he had undergone a final gender
reassignment surgery.
“Nancy hasn't
seen the new me yet,” Beatie said.
“Like all
marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we're going through a rough
patch right now,” he added. “At the moment, we're separated.”
