John Stamos on Saturday poked fun at
Kirk Cameron and said that he was proud to be considered an “honorary
gay man.”
Speaking at GLAAD's Media Awards,
Stamos honored Smash producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron
before he and Bernadette Peters presented the producing couple with
the group's Vito Russo Award.

“I'm a better person because of the
wonderfully artistic, smart, imaginative, vibrant and expressive
people I've worked with from this community, like my friends Neil and
Craig,” Stamos said. “As an actor, they have cast me in some
very provocative and challenging roles.”
“They also cast me in my very first
gay role – Uncle Jessie from Full House.”
“One of the things I'm sort of proud
of in my life is that many of my friends like Neil and Craig sort of
consider me an honorary gay man, which I'm honored by. Personally, I
believe it's because of my steadfast support of GLAAD. Neil and
Craig say it's because of my dreamy hair and eyes.”
Stamos also joked that while working on
the daytime soap General Hospital “strange men repeatedly
told me how they wished I were gay. But enough about Kirk Cameron.”
