Houston Dynamo midfielder Colin Clark
apologized Saturday for hurling a gay slur at a ball boy during
Friday night's game against the Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink
Field, ESPN
reported.
When 27-year-old Clark, who is in his
third season for the Dynamo, is forced to pick up a ball knocked out
of bounds, he utters a gay slur toward the ball boy.
Clark apologized in three messages
posted on Twitter.
“I'd like to offer a sincere apology
to everyone who watched the game, especially the ball boy for whom I
used awful language toward.”
“I didn't mean to disrespect anyone
and am sorry for letting my emotions get the best of me,” Clark
messaged to his 560 followers. “It's not who I am and it won't
happen again.”
He also messaged @gay4soccer, the user
who posted video of Clark's outburst on YouTube. (The video is
