Rosie O'Donnell has said that Jesus
would not approve of Kirk Cameron's anti-gay views.
Cameron, who came to prominence as a
child actor playing Mike Seaver on the ABC sitcom Growing Pains,
created a firestorm of controversy with comments he made during an
appearance on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight.
The 41-year-old Cameron told host Piers
Morgan that being gay is “unnatural” and “ultimately
destructive” to society, and that he would not be supportive if one
of his six sons told him he was gay.
The openly gay O'Donnell, who hosts
cabler OWN's The Rosie Show, on Friday joined the chorus of
Hollywood celebrities calling out Cameron, a Christian conservative.

Cameron calls Hollywood response to anti-gay comments “hate
speech.”)
“It's unnatural to you Kirk,”
O'Donnell said, “because you're heterosexual. But it doesn't mean
it's unnatural to everyone. Trust me. If it was unnatural for gay
people, we wouldn't be gay. It's not like you discover you're gay
and hip hip horray let's join the parade and get a free toaster. We
have to listen to people like you telling us that we are responsible
for the decline of civilization.”
“I just don't get it. It's so not
pious. It's very un-Christ like, Kirk. Really. If you want to
follow the Jesus motto, man, don't go shaming people like that for
who they are. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this
