Kirk Cameron has said that being gay is
destructive to society and that he would not be okay if one of his
children were gay.
The 41-year-old Cameron came to
prominence as a child actor, playing Mike Seaver on the ABC sitcom
Growing Pains. More recently, he played Caleb Holt in the
2008 film Fireproof.
He and fellow evangelist Ray Comfort
founded the ministry of The Way of the Master.
Appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan
Tonight, Cameron told host Piers Morgan that as a Christian he
did not approve of gay marriage.
When Morgan asked whether he would tell
his children that gay marriage is a sin, Cameron answered: “I
believe that marriage was defined by God a long time ago. Marriage
is almost as old as dirt. And it was defined in the garden between
Adam and Eve – one man, one woman for life, till death do you part.
I would never attempt to redefine marriage and I don't think anyone
else should either.”
“Do you think homosexuality is a
sin?”
“I think it's unnatural, that it's
detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations
of civilization.”
Cameron added that he would not be
happy if one of his six sons announced he was gay.
“I'm going to say, 'You know there's
all sorts of issues that we need to wrestle through in our life, and
just because you feel one way doesn't mean we should act on
everything we feel.'” (The video is embedded in the right panel of
