Search engine Google included a gay
male couple getting married in its Valentine's Day doodle.
An animated video is played when a user
clicks on today's doodle.
In the short video, Tony Bennett's
Cold, Cold Heart plays in the background as a boy tries to win
over the love of a girl jumping rope. He tries flowers, chocolates
in a heart-shaped box, and a half dozen other gifts. But the girl
just keeps jumping rope. Finally, the boy joins her in jumping rope
and the girl responds with a hug.
The video ends by showing other forms
of love, including a dog and a cat, a princess and a frog prince, a
cookie and a container of milk, and two men dressed in tuxes and
holding hands on what appears to be their wedding day. (The video is
embedded in the right panel of this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
Gay rights groups the Gay & Lesbian
Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign
(HRC) thanked Google.
“As Google shows its millions of
search engine users – all love is equal,” HRC wrote in a blog
post.
