Washington State Governor Chris
Gregoire has pledged to reach out to New Jersey Governor Chris
Christie on the issue of gay marriage.
Gregoire is set to sign
legislation legalizing gay marriage in Washington on Monday. But
the Democratic governor has also said that she struggled with her
faith over the issue.
Christie, a Republican, has threatened
to veto a proposed marriage equality bill set
to be voted on by lawmakers next week.
When The Daily Wrap host Michael
Castner asked Gregoire if she would reach out to Christie to discuss
the issue, she answered in the affirmative.
“Yes, I would because I feel a good
working relationship with Governor Christie,” Gregoire answered.
“I respect him as a fellow governor, I have worked with him on a
number of issues. So yeah, I would feel very comfortable sharing
with him my personal journey, and then sharing with him the
overwhelming response that I've received and how good I feel about
myself today – and I have not felt good about this issue and about
where I stood for a number of years.” (The audio is embedded in
