Singer Adam Lambert has credited a
federal court's ruling against Proposition 8, California's gay
marriage ban, with helping him feel better.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on
Tuesday upheld
a lower court's ruling declaring Proposition 8 to be in violation of
the United States Constitution.
The court's opinion won't go into
effect for 14 days, which gives opponents time to file an expected
appeal before the full court. That is, gay and lesbian couples
wishing to marry in California are facing another lengthy wait.
The 30-year-old, openly gay Lambert
first touched on the news Tuesday when he forwarded a tweet from the
Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), which said:
“Breaking: Anti-gay #Prop 8 was once again ruled unconstitutional!”
On Wednesday, he explained that he had
been feeling under the weather and credited the news with helping him
get over the spell.
“Yes I'm feeling much better. A 24
hr bug … brutal,” he tweeted to his more than 1.3 million
followers. “I'm thrilled about prop 8 being ruled
unconstitutional!! Best medicine ever!! #equality”
