Madonna has described Lady Gaga's Born
This Way as sounding familiar.
Madonna commented on Lady Gaga during a
wide-ranging interview with ABC News' Cynthia McFadden.
The interview is being parted out
between various ABC properties. Nightlight broadcast a
segment on Thursday and 20/20 will visit with the Queen of Pop
on Friday.
During a segment aired Friday on Good
Morning America, Madonna is asked her thoughts on Lady Gaga and
whether she kissed singer Nicki Minaj.
“Of all of these, there is one
question that blew up the Internet,” McFadden said of viewers
questions. “They want to know what you think about Lady Gaga.”
“It feels reductive,” Madonna said
of Born This Way's similarity to Madonna's 1989 hit Express
Yourself.
“Is that good?” McFadden asked.
“Look it up,” Madonna calmly
answered.
For the record, McFadden noted,
“reductive” means “simplified” or “crude.”
Madonna also acknowledged kissing
Minaj: “It was her birthday. I gave her a birthday kiss. No
tongue!”
“She has lovely lips. We sang Happy
Birthday and then I kissed her on the mouth,” she added.
