Glenn Beck has defended Rick Santorum's
opposition to gay marriage, saying: “You can't change the
variables.”
Speaking Friday on his radio program,
the conservative celebrity suggested marriage equality would destroy
marriage.
“I don't care. If you want to sleep
with your boyfriend and you're a guy, you want to sleep with your
girlfriend, that's up to you. You don't destroy marriage to do it,”
Beck said.
“I have exactly the same opinion on
gay marriage that President Obama has, unless he's lying,” he said,
then added that he supports civil unions for gay and lesbian couples.
Beck also came to the defense of
Santorum, who compared
gay marriage to polygamy when challenged by students at a campaign
stop at New England College in Concord, New Hampshire.
“The equation is: one man plus one
woman equals marriage,” Beck said in defending Santorum's
opposition to the institution.
“You can't change the variables,”
he later added. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this
