Chaz Bono has told Rolling
Stone that he's saving to have more surgery performed.
The 42-year-old Bono's gender
reassignment surgery was chronicled in the Emmy-nominated documentary
Becoming Chaz. A follow up film, Being Chaz, focused
on his now-ended 6-year relationship with Jennifer Elia and the
controversy that surrounded his appearance on ABC's Dancing with
the Stars.
Bono is surprisingly candid about such
a personal decision in the interview.
“I could get a phalloplasty, which
builds the phallus from a donor site on your body,” Bono said, “but
I'm leaning more toward a metoidioplasty. It's a procedure that uses
what you already have down there which has grown larger from the
testosterone. You end up with a smaller phallus than with the
phalloplasty, but it's fully functional, it gets erect, and the
sensation is all there.”
Bono added that he wasn't sure about
size: “I've never seen one erect. So it's really hard to say.
But, you know, soft, probably about three inches and it grows
considerably. I don't know what the average size difference is, but
when I'm having sex I probably get three or four times larger.”
The surgery, Bono added, would cost
between $25,000 and $45,000.
