Several Republicans are included in a
new TV ad calling on lawmakers not to repeal New Hampshire's
2-year-old gay marriage law.
The bipartisan group Standing
Up for New Hampshire Families produced the 30-second ad, which
was released on Wednesday.
“We believe freedom means freedom for
everyone,” Republican activist Maxine Morse says in the ad. “Every
single person.”
Others featured in the video add:
“Don't take away the freedom to marry. We don't pass laws to
undermine families, that's just not New Hampshire.”
“We never use government to take
freedom away from our people. Politicians should let our neighbors
live their lives. Leave them alone.” (The video is embedded in
the right panel of this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
Lawmakers are expected to consider
House bill 437, which would repeal the law, when they reconvene on
January 4.
With New Hampshire holding its
presidential primary within the same week, the issue has already
seeped into the race for the GOP nomination.
Rick Perry in October praised
GOP lawmakers' efforts to repeal the law, while Mitt Romney said
he supports
repeal of the law when a gay Vietnam veteran asked his position
last week.
