Michele Bachmann was left speechless
after an 8-year-old boy told her that his mother is gay and not in
need of fixing.
The incident occurred during a South
Carolina book signing for Bachmann's new book Core of Conviction:
My Story.
On the campaign trail, Bachmann has
said she objects to gay marriage and would reinstate “Don't Ask,
Don't Tell,” the recently repealed military policy that for 18
years banned gay and bisexual troops from serving openly. Bachmann
has not denied allegations that the family clinics run by her husband
Marcus Bachmann attempt to “cure” gay people of their sexuality.
In fact, she told Jay Leno that not
offering the therapy would be discriminatory.

In a 1-minute video uploaded Sunday,
December 4 to YouTube, Elijah and his mother are seen approaching
Bachmann, who is seated behind a table.
“What's your name?” Bachmann asks.
“Elijah? It's really good to meet
you,” Bachmann says as she shakes the boy's hand.
“Don't you have something you'd like
to say?” the mother prompts.
“You know, I think I, my ears were
too far away. Do you wanna come over real quickly?” Bachmann says
as she leans over the table and closer to the boy.
“My mommy – Miss Bachmann – my
mommy's gay but she doesn't need any fixing,” Elijah whispers.
“Ba-bye,” Bachmann responds as she
