Chaz Bono proposes marriage to longtime girlfriend Jennifer Elia in the documentary Being Chaz, set to premier Sunday on Oprah Winfrey's OWN television network.

The documentary is a follow-up to last year's Emmy Award-nominated Becoming Chaz, which also had its television premiere on OWN after a successful film festival circuit run. OWN will also broadcast an encore showing of Becoming Chaz immediately before the new film's 8PM ET/PM premiere.

In a clip from the film obtained by PEOPLE.com we see Bono proposing marriage to Elia at the top of Seattle's Space Needle. But he doesn't actually ask the question, instead he gives Elia a “birthday present.”

“Wow. It's gorgeous. Thank you so much, it's stunning. It's huge!” Elia says of her engagement ring.

In a second clip, Elia talks about the backlash Bono faced for being the first transgender contestant on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

“People feel so angry that Chaz is entering their televisions,” an emotional Elia says. “People who make change get shot, and I don't think that's worth it. … This is insane. It's not worth doing a show if you're going to get shot.”

Immediately following the premiere of Being Chaz, OWN will broadcast the documentary I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition, which follows the life of 11-year-old Jazz, a transgender girl, and her family as they cope with the onset of puberty.
