Michele Bachmann strode on to NBC's Late Night to greet host Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday as the band played a portion of a 1985 song titled Lying Ass Bitch.

The song includes the lyrics, “She always says she needs you, but you know she really don't care.”

Fallon's house band the Roots is led by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, who said that the song was a “tongue-in-cheek and spur-of-the-moment decision.

Speaking on Fox News, Bachmann said that the Fallon show band had displayed sexism and bias.

“This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,” she said. “This wouldn't be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn't be tolerated if it's a conservative woman either.”

In an appearance on Michael Medved's radio show, Bachmann called the incident “inappropriate, outrageous and disrespectful.”

NBC, Fallon and Thompson have apologized for the gaff.

“The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt,” Thompson said. “That was not my intention.”

Fallon said in a tweet that he was “so sorry about the intro mess.”
