Tamara Scott, the new Iowa campaign
co-chair of Michele Bachmann, has said she objects to gay marriage
because it could lead to a woman marrying the Eiffel Tower.
Scott, who is also the director of the
Iowa chapter of Concerned Women for America (CWA), joined the
Bachmann camp last week.
While speaking with Bob Vander Plaats,
the head of the Iowa-based Christian conservative group The Family
Leader, Scott warned voters to oppose marriage equality because it
would pave the way for legal recognition of other relationships.
“You talked about the red herring and
you brought up 'polygamy' and I even have articles on polyamory.
There are sets of polyamory, those are people who are involved in a
committed relationship – a man and a wife or a boyfriend and
girlfriend, that is their committed relationship – then they have
several other relationships in combination with that.”
Scott said polyamorous relationships
existed in Massachusetts and Illinois, two states that recognize gay
unions. She then suggested that that gay marriage would lead to
people marrying objects, such as “when a woman marries the Eiffel
Tower.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.

According to Right
Wing Watch, Scott has previously said that supporting gay
marriage would jeopardize a person's chances of entering Heaven.
